Just move?
So i have been with Sprint for some years, my last contract was under my ex boyfriends name and we cancelled after the contract had been up. however when I got my own sprint line when i moved the service was HORRIBLE, I had only been with them for a year and after paying 176.00 a month for two line of service for our smart phones i decided to go with someone else for WAY CHEAPER. Virgin Mobile, now yes i know they are part of the sprint network but the service on these phones is way better for HALF the price, actually 45 bucks a month each. SO HOW DO YOU GET OUT OF IT? if you have a friend or family member that lives in another country, THATS YOUR WAY OUT. All i did was have my uncle in England sign a lease agreement between me and him for his address and email it to me, i printed it out, faxed it to sprint and BAM out of contract because they dont have service there. Now when you call MAKE SURE you document everything, record the calls if you can, and one way to keep your number is port it over to the new provider and of course when/if they ask, simply tell them that provider offered you service there for a lot cheaper, and sprint wont be able to do anything. Even if your going with ATT, VERIZON, or TMOBILE, because these companies DO have international service in other countries, SPRINT is the only one that doesn't.
Hope this helps someone else, it helped me...

ummm do you have anything
ummm do you have anything constructive to provide? lol
Friendly PSA
I started reading the forum posts & replies on this site to get answers to a question I had and I realized there are VERY few actual answers in any of these replies - most of these responses are either whining without seeking an answer, complaining about what others have written, or making fun of other people and the questions they've asked or what few answers people have offered. Most of what's here is rude, offensive and downright mean.
PLEASE people - don't post unless you have something constructive to add to this forum (or any other, really!) People come here and ask questions looking for actual answers and people answer them to be helpful - none of these people deserve to be insulted or belittled because of it, nor do any of us reading these want to waste our time and energy on your nonsense. Have respect and common courtesy for the people around you - you'll probably find that people respond to you with the same and maybe you won't have so much to be negative about.
IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING NICE OR HELPFUL TO ADD, PLEASE KEEP IT TO YOURSELF! THANK YOU!!
Take your own advice
I don't believe you had anything of value to add either so take your own advice.
speaking of contributing ...
I actually think reminding people to be respectful and courteous IS a contribution! I agree with the above post - I came to this forum looking for solutions to a problem and have found very little help. People seem to forget to use their manners when they are "anonymous". It's a shame.
ETF's - no service
How did you get them to lower your contract to a year and then get out w/o any etf? I've had them for almost a year, my phone doesn't work in the house (i have small kids and a sick mother, and a business...). I've called, been nice, (was told too bad, go outside to make calls) been angry but not rude (told to be nice or they would terminate the call), gotten the airwave (which crashes my internet service) and their tech support dept. has absolutely no idea why...they told me they'd prorate my 5 lines, but otherwise to basically 'f' off. I want out of this contract. Someone please help. I even offered to pay an ETF, if it was much lower, they told me too bad.
No Service in Home
Call Sprint and ask for the sprint AirRAVE because you do not get service coverage in your home. They offer it for $4.99 a month and they also apply credits for the charges. CALL, seriously because I have one!
Sierra
I have the AirRave and it
I have the AirRave and it crashes my entire internet system, router and all. THey keep telling me its not defective, and now they want to send an engineer out to the house to investigate. I'm not too crazy about having some stranger poking around my house, nor do i recall this being part of my contract...any ideas?
Bad serv in house
Ask them for an airwave you plug it in in your home and it becomes like a cell tower. I have one at home it works great
Waived my Fee
Ive ad some problems with sprint in the past week. I have 10 pages of transcripts from online chats, and three seperate phone calls in which I was transferred to every department imaginable and had to repeat the same story over and over.
Yesterday, I spent 4 hours on the phone with Sprint and finally someone in Account Management let me out of my contract without letting me out. She changed my contract from two years to one year, which will end on the 17th of February. I will not be facing any ETF charges and I will not have to return any phone to the store and Sprint tries to tell you.
Its amazing what you can do with an angry voice, a real issue that snowballed into something bigger, and persistence.
Tards
Is everyone on this site that is looking to cancel retarded??? Everyonce asks the same f@*$&ng question and they all keep getting the same answer!!! Read through the damn posts!!
RUDE @ NEGATIVE PEOPLE
I AM JUST PLAIN DISCUSTED BY YOUR COMMENT AND ALL OF THE OTHER RUDE THINGS BEING SAID. THIS IS TO GET HELP. NOT FOR PEOPLE TO GIVE OUT INSULTS. IT IS JUST HORRIBLE THAT YOU CANT GO TO ONE WEBSITE WHERE YOU DO NOT HAVE SOMEONE WHO IS BEING NEGATIVE AND MEAN. I CAME TO THIS TO GET SOME ANSWERS, BUT INSTEAD IT IS HALF FULL OF REALLY INSIGNIFICANT COMMENTS LIKE YOURS!
Stick a Sock in it!!
Tards,
Why don't you go slam you head into a brick wall or walk into the garage and smash your thumb with a hammer. If you're ticked off at the whole world because life has handed you a giant crap sanwich with no bread to which everyday you have to take a big bite, then tough crap for you. Keep your negative comments to yourself and do not make off color references to mentally retarded people. So see ya later McGoofball,
The Judge
ETF
I recently excepted a job that takes me to an area of the country where Sprint/Nextel service doesn't work at all. I rely on my phone for work and although I have always been happy with Sprint/Nextel service, I am unable to use the phone in these areas (Northern Wisconsin, U.P. of Michigan), therefore I feel I have no choice but to cancel my service. However, I bought a new phone last August before I had this new job, and therefore I have about a year and a half left on my contract. I'm wondering, is some way I can end my contract without paying the highly expensive ETF?
sprint
they should be able to waive it because your moving out of there service area.
Done with sprint!
I have been with sprint for about 12 years. I got the ln510 thinking i could use the "phone as modem" option... Just to be disappointed when I find out sprint wont allow this. So now I have a 2 yr contract and the only option i needed isnt usable, thanks sprint. You just lost a long term customer for not allowing me to do something that almost every other company does.
P.s. Iam just venting no need for replies.
you can do it for free if you
you can do it for free if you have an android phone. just download "pdanet" onto your phone out of the android market and then search for pdanet on google on your computer and download it onto the computer. it works over bluetooth and with the usb cable.
RE:
Have you tried rooting your phone...?
Not quite
If you are within your thirty days of getting the phone, just return it. The phone that would be able to use as a hotspot for least amount of money is the LG Optimus, however it is 29.99 a month extra. just something to think about. 12 years is a long time and you migh, MIGHT, be able to swing not having to pay all of that.
Sprint terminating customers again 2010
Apparently Sprint has told a number of customers to either pay normal rates or leave. See article here. http://whiskeyandthemorningafter.blogspot.com/2010/12/sprint-terminates-customers-again.html
In this case, it appears Sprint is partially in the right especially when you read the other articles about how these people apparently cheated the company out of millions.
I HATE SPRINT (im a sprint REP too LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL)
i hate it
its very expensive
i cant get less minutes i have 350 and dont even use 100
i have the incognito
i cant send or recieve pics without a rediculus upcharge even tho i have the messaging plan that supposidly covers it,
i get texts from people that sent them the day before
i get voicemail without missing a call and with full bars
i cant wait till i can swap to virgin mobile (its the sprint network but cheaper and no ETF web pics unlimited text and more then double my needed minutes for 25 bucks a month) like WTF how can sprint not be cheaper with better service
why do they even have a contract? so when you find out how much the service sucks, you will have to pay them more money
i dont care if my customer service is worse, or on par with sprint when i swap to virgin mobile, at least i wont be paying out the ass for crappy service.
all the sprint REP's are retarded for arguing with us on the internet
and to all the people above me that mentioned peoples grammar: GTFO of my internets
SPRINT
I have been with Sprint for 10 years. I added a WIFI card that I have NEVER USED.It is after the 30 days. Can I get out of this?
sprint bill
hey if your still a sprint rep or know anyone that is. could i pay you to credit my account?
sprint
i know you like your check every other week, but what way can i get a credit enough to make my balance like from 600 to 100?
HMM
How much? Lol jk. I Like my check every other week.
Here is the beef on BAD RECEPTION INDOORS
Cell-Phones (MOBILE PHONES). Were created to be used outside the home when you do not have access to a landline. "But no one uses landlines anymore!" I hear this one a lot. I know that cell-phones are becoming the main means of communication for people today and landline companies are losing customer's like crazy. However, this does not change the fact that cell-phones use a WIRELESS SIGNAL to transmit the information. When you are inside a building of any kind there are materials that went into that buildings construction that are blocking that signal. SPRINT AS A COMPANY CANNOT CONTROL ANY OF THAT UNLESS WE BUILD YOUR HOME.
I seriously receive calls that people cannot make calls in Wal-Mart. That is a all steel and concrete structure with a hundred air conditioners on the roof, you are not going to get a signal like you were standing outside on a clear day. Same thing goes for trying to make a call from your parents basement.
Also, we offer coverage based on your home address. Not your work. So if you go to work and lose signal in your building we are not building a tower to improve your office reception. Especially if you work in a hospital (ppl actually think we should credit them bc hospitals shield certain parts from cell phones)
Take a hard look at what is happening with your phone before calling in. A lot of it is self explanatory. Also, do not call us for help and when we give you a honest, logical answer, tell us we don't know anything and you know better. If you KNEW so much you would not be calling in the first place.
DISCLOSURE
THIS MAY BE TRUE, BUT DO YOU AS A CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TELL PEOPLE THAT WHEN YOU SELL THEM THE SERVICES? HELL NO!!!! COME ON NOW THE CELL COMPANIES ARE THE PEOPLE WHO ENCOURAGED US TO GET RID OF OUR LANDLINES, YET FORGOT TO LET US KNOW RECEPTION IS NOT MEANT FOR INDOOR USAGE ARE YOU KIDDING ME? GIVE ME A BREAK! THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS ALL OF US ARE SUPPOSE TO KNOW ANY OF THE THINGS YOU COMMENTED ON AND DID YOU EVEN KNOW BEFORE YOU WORKED THERE? DO YOU REALLY NO KNOW PEOPLE ARE USING THEM IN THEIR HOUSE, AT WORK, AND IN THE CAR? WOULD YOU BE WILLING TO LET YOUR NEW CUSTOMERS KNOW IT MAY NOT WORK IN THOSE PLACES AHEAD OF THEM ORDERING NEW SERVICE. COME ONNNNNNNN!!!!!!! SPRINT HAS SOME OF THE WORST SIGNAL SUPPORT INDOORS AND OUT IN THE COUNTRY AREAS! I WISH IT WERE DIFFERENT, BECAUSE I AM HAVEING TO CANCEL MY ACCOUNT DUE TO THIS ISSUE AND I BET THEY ARE NOT GOING TO BE NICE ABOUT IT. ATT IS SO CHEAP WHEN YOU DO THEIR BUNDLE PACKAGES, AS A MATTER OF FACT I WILL BE PAYING 50 A MONTH LESS THAN SPRINT AND HAVE 3G PHONES AND SERVICE.
Suck it anonymous
This is the same f-you attitude that gives service providers a bad name. If I get perfect service in my home from all providers but yours, it is your problem, not mine. F-you too.
P.S. Hospitals don't "shield shield certain parts from cell phones" you moron. Do you think hospitals have extra money to spend to stop cell calls? Do you really think they try to block calls, especially considering almost all docs and nurses carry cell phones and is an efficient means of communication? I work in a hospital. Verizon works nearly everywhere except the basement (we actually have a "repeater" on the roof to help allow this), while Sprint hardly works outside the building.
Maybe I will recognize your arrogance when I call Sprint again.
Good day, you dumb, arrogant bastard.
gofer... read this!
so if you really did work for a hospital then you would know that docs and nurses are not allowed to have their cell phones on them while at work. they are to be kept in the nurses station or what have you. the patients arent even supposed to have their cell phones. all phones are supposed to be turned off in certain parts of the hospital. no, not everyone listens to this because it is the ignorant attitude of people like you.
also, if you're complaining about sprint then why would you be calling them and recognizing anonymous' arrogant attitude? if you hate sprint so much, why don't you just shut up and switch instead of choosing to give a companies innocent employees a hard time. if it makes you that mad, then suck it up and pay the fee to cut early.
and one last thing about the hospital... you said they don't pay to "shield cell phone activity"... ... which is entirely true, however. they definitely do not have a repeater. and that goes for any hospital. no reason to pay for something that doesn't benefit the functionality of a hospital itself. cell phone signals interfere with some of the systems/machinery that they use on patients so they definitely aren't going to encourage the use of cell phones.
just sayin.
In response to the suck it guy
I don't have a dog in this fight, however I just thought I would let you know that hospitals do indeed shield certain parts from cell phones and also they have the ability to block cell reception for everyone except their preferred carrier. Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville is a great example. During employee orientation they tell you that they have an exclusive agreement with Nextel and that if you want coverage anywhere outside of the patient's rooms with your cell phone then you would need to switch. Before you ask, there is a Verizon and an AT&T tower half a block away, so yes they do this. Just thought I would let you know that the world doesn't your "arrogance."
Get a clue Metethn
It is illegal to jam/block other signals. FCC makes it pretty clear here: http://wireless.fcc.gov/services/index.htm?job=operations_2&id=cellular
Metethn, since you are obviously incorrect on at least part of your statement, I would conclude that in reality your orientation leader said that they have a contract with Nextel and have repeaters within the hospital, so you can get a signal with their service. Hospitals are built like fortresses and typically have thick concrete walls for structure that kill outside signals. Once again, if you think ANY hospital spends any extra money on something like this, you don't have a clue. Most hospitals are 1% profit on a good year (right now most are in the red). If it doesn't benefit the hospital, it is not funded. Furthermore, wireless signals have little if any effect on 99% of hospital equipment (though I bet BME/Clin Engineering could honestly say 100% is unaffected), so that is not a reason for it either.
Finally, "Just thought I would let you know that the world doesn't your "arrogance.""??? Forget a word or two? By the way, you aren't arrogant if you know your topic and aren't full of crap. Arrogance, however, is when you don't know what you are talking about, but still try to call someone else out. Feeling arrogant, Metethn?
Happy New Year!
FCC allows hospitals and
FCC allows hospitals and airlines (among others) to jam the cell phone signal. It's a simple device called a cell phone jammer and it uses electromagnetic interference. http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/question230.htm
Lets see a link that states
Lets see a link that states the FCC allows hopistals or airlines to jam cell phones? Why would an airline need to jam anything, you can't get a signal 5 miles up anyways!
Neutral
United States: Cell phone blocking devices are used by federal officials under certain circumstances. Privacy rights of property owners may affect the policy and application of law within buildings. The FCC may issue a permit that waivers the law for private use. For radio communications, it is illegal to operate, manufacture, import, or offer for sale, including advertising (Communications Act of 1934).[8] Blocking radio communications in public can carry fines of up to $11,000 or imprisonment of up to one year.[9] The Homeland Security Act of 2002 may override the Communications Act of 1934.[10]
Just copy and pasted from wikipedia, granted not the most accurate source, but a source nonetheless
Here's the skinny on Pro-Ration
Pro-Ration or the technical term "PARTIAL MONTH CHARGES" are when you make a financially impacting change during your bill cycle, i.e. change pan, add feature, remove feature. It is like moving into an apartment. If you move in on the 15th of the month, you pay from the 15th to the 1st, then the 1st to the 30th. You pay for 45 days even though you have not lived there 45 days. Sprint is a post-paid company and charges everything in advance. So next time you have to buy that EVO that requires you to change your plan that day, just know you will be charged this and YOU WILL NOT BE CREDITED FOR IT. Would you seriously tell your apartment complex you are not paying for the 15 days you lived in that apartment!
Sprint is a great wireless carrier for an average Joe
This is based on over 10 years experience being Sprint customer. For a while, I did try to look for better deals - but after I told them what I had been paying with Sprint, they all told me they could not even come close to it and they all recommended me to stay with Sprint. These recommendations were from Sprint's competitors.
And Yes, I did get to talk to some rude customer service reps, but even good/great organizations still have workers who don't really care enough about their jobs or their companies - or I just caught those reps on their bad day or bad moment (or they just got off the phone with some callers with some European last name like DUMASS). I normally got nice customer rep for the first time, and if I think the rep is being rude to me - I just hang up and call again - so 90% of the time I would get a nice rep on the second time. I would say 100% of time I would get a nice rep if I do call back the 3rd time.
Thanx
FYI, if an employee does a really great job, take the survey and give all fives, reps can bonus if they have good scores (4 or less are a bad). If they suck, give them 1's. If they really show above par service, request to speak to their supervisor to compliment them.
i've had a contract with
i've had a contract with sprint for 2 months, my first bill was $133, i expected it to be more expensive because it was the first bill. Second bill was $88, i expected to pay seventy something since it was the $69.99 simply everything plan but they're charging me $5 unless i do the autopay thing....which i really dont' want to do but i dont' want this contract anymore, it's more than i thought it would be and i was wondering if there's any way i could get out of it without the eft.
http://www.fatwallet.com/foru
http://www.fatwallet.com/forums/hot-deals/974336/ get out of your sprint contract without a fee
Never Sign up Sprint
I think if sprint continues to do business they will be out of customer in 7 years. I'm a valued well I was customer. I been with them over 5 yrs pay over $79 per month but now I getting out with termination fee.
Duh
If you owned a company and had a great customer, but then the customer wanted to cancel before the amount of time that they LEGALLY signed to devote to your company, that would have them pay (depending upon Price Plan) a couple grand for the two years that they would have service, you would not charge an Early Termination Fee? I mean $200 (that gets prorated down over time) is a fraction compared to how much you would spend if you didn't cancel. Just be glad that you do not get billed for the amount that you had agreed upon up front. Why should you be rewarded for cancelling your service?
Help
I received a letter from Sprint regarding voice roaming on my mom's line. I called the toll free #, waited for 45 minutes to speak to a CSR, & was not prepared for what was explained to me. The CSR told me that my mom lives 2 miles outside of the Sprint network. I added her to my plan in 2007 and the zip code was provided at that time and Sprint had coverage. It is now 2010 ans she is 2 miles outside of the coverage area. I was also told that she is roaming on verizon's network. The CSR kept saying that my mom is roaming. I just want 2 know how coverage was in her area in 07 but not in 10. If there was no coverage, I would have never added the extra line. Can anyone explain the difference in the maps viewed by store rep and phone reps?
the worse company
sprint has the worse rude customer services, they do whaever they one, they dont help the customers and they system is mesthod. I wount recomend u to get sprint services, they might be cheper but in the long way u end up paying more because they make changes and they dont let u know. my bill is 200 hundred dollars more due to changes that i was not aware. they even renew my plan and to get it back i had to call like 20 time and speak with a manager. dont make a mistake by going to sprint.
the "worse" company
learn how to speak before you complain... shit
Wow
From what I am noticing, the customers who are bashing Sprint, do not know how to spell or articulate anything (with the exception of a couple). Granted I have not gone through all of the comments, but this is a little ridiculous.
Now, for your information, if anything is going to be changed (such as the Spending Limit Program Fee) it is on the first two bills that precede the change, and in the case for the Spending Limit Program Fee, your bill clearly states that you can cancel with no ETF. It is not Sprint's fault you do not read you bill.
Wow - you suck
"the customers who are bashing Sprint, ( <-- comma splice error ) do not know how to spell or articulate anything "
You are hardly in a position to judge.
humph you must work
humph you must work there......I've been with sprint for 3 years now and no single time during those 3 years has my bill been what it's supposed to be. It's supposed to be 69.99 a month, but it's been well over 130 dollars! I can't ever afford to pay the whole thing so they keep charging me late fee after late fee and then they shut me off...and then i have to pay a reconnection fee!!! FFFFUUUUUCCCKKK SPRINT!!! IM SOOOOO EXCITED TO GO IN TOMORROW AND CANCEL MY CONTRACT!!! THANK GOD HALLELUJAH I HOPE SPRINT GOES OUTTA BUSINESS!!!!!!!!
When you have a contract you
When you have a contract you should know and expect your bill will never be the advertised price. You are still responsible for the taxes and fees associated with a contract cell phone. No other service with contract will you pay the advertised amount, you're still going to be responsible for the other fees. It is just common sense if you don't pay the entire bill you are going to be charged with late fees. Stop trying to live above your means and keep up with the Jones'. Go to prepaid because that's what you need. They'll just cut your a$$ off when you fail to make payment.
i love sprint
I love sprint...they are cheaper than verizon and i have great signal.
my plan is 450 minutes
free nites n wkends
free mobile to mobile
unlimited data,and messaging
no roaming charges
for 69.99
did i mention the only time you use ur 450 minutes is when u call an 800 number or a landline phone.
customer service is great also. before i had this plan i had used soo much data and my bil was high...so they changed my plan so that (1) i wouldnt go over anymore and (2) and back dated it so that i would not be charged for my overages!

sprint misrepresentations/lies
well know, seems like more people dislike sprints customer waining customer service, to be sure, you'll not get any GOOD WILL.
long time valued customer, yet this is meaningless to them, reps, supervisors, termination reps.
problem, wanted to add a phone, called sprint, sure only $10, told the same at the store, just wanted to verify.
same thing later when wanting to add a fourth line.
however, billed for $20 each new added phone.
contacted sprint,,,just got the run a round,,,our reps were wrong, they were not up to date with information regarding adding addtional phones,,,,"WE WANT TO MAKE YOU HAPPY", our solution, change your plan, reduce you minutes, and we will then only charge you the $10 for each phone. NO THANKS.
now, each time i call and go up the ladder to a more powerful rep. i get new and different solution offers from each TO MAKE ME HAPPY. each requiring that i sacrifice some benefit to my original plan. and or requiring a new 2 yr contract... "NO THANKYOU,,,just live up to THE WORD OF YOUR REPRESENTATIVES. NOTE, you can TRUST what anyone says. document all calls, insist they record your concerns. I WANT OUT,,,how can i avoid those large termination fees??? suggestions please, thankyou
Stuff Happens
Ok listen up. I work for Sprint. I understand you got misnformation about the add a line to your plan and I am sorry about that. Sprint is a huge corporation and ppl make mistakes. If you go into a Best Buy and ask how much a tv is and a sales rep says $500 instead of $1000 they are not going to sell you the tv for $500.00. It was a slip of the tounge. It's not that we don't care, we CANNOT give you that line for $9.99. We don't have any magical codes to change the price that corporate has set into the system, it will not happen.
You can cancel your contract without an ETF by setting all your phones to ROAM only. After 800+min of roaming for 3 months in a row Sprint will send you a letter of termination for violating the Terms and Conditions on ROAMING.
Seriously look at what you spend with Sprint compared to another carrier. You are damn well saving more money with us. Believe me I know and you can check this by going to each competitor's website and seeing their prices. You may be charged $19.99 for the third line but add that thrid line up for a year and compare what you're paying somewhere else.
Another option
You can actually contact the FCC and FTC. File a complaint that you were lied too. If you file with these places sprint has to respond. That is the law. If they did tell you wrong you are not liable for over charges for false selling. They have to let you out of the contract.
That's was a example on how
That's was a example on how mistakes happen. I have been with Sprint for some time now and have had very few problems. However, what some customers seem to be upset over is definately understandable. I have also experienced the rude, impatience of someone who apparently is not enjoying their job and have wanted to cancel all my lines and switch to a provider who is trying to earn my business. If Sprint would somehow work some wiggle room into their ability to make some kind of adjustment or compensation to a unhappy customer for what you call an isolated mistake, that would probably make a customer feel like you are trying to meet them halfway to keep their business. Business is business however with the addition of the I phone to the Verizon arsonal you would think management might start looking at how to keep customers happy. Nobody is asking for free service, just for someone to take the time to try and work through some concerns and find a middle ground. The ironic thing is today I call and ask for my end of contract dates in case I was to seek service elsewhere and the customer service rep starts selling me against Verizon and the I phone..................I never mentioned the service provider nor the I phone. Bottom line I think Sprint is good, however they could be great.
3rd line lie
So I had the exact same series of "mistakes" yesterday. Called first and Jerry told me it would be $9.99 to add 3rd line. Great. Spent time online finding the right phone for my mom. Called the store - told they had the phone in stock and it would be 9.99 to add the line. Drove to pick up my mom, entered store, was told it would be 9.99. I've had Sprint for many years with 2 lines and have been quite happy with them. So great, sign us up for the 3rd line. Oh, well that'll be $19.99! So it's hard to believe there are that many ill informed employees making the same "mistake". Sounds more like a lie to me. Made me, a long term happy customer, mad. Walked across the street and added mom to my brother's Verizon plan instead - for $9.99. So how smart is that Sprint? You lost my mom as a customer and her $120/yr. And you lost all my goodwill. Only thing I'll say is Sprint otherwise beats Verizon and I even considered paying extra to stay with Sprint but couldn't see paying double after they lied and wouldn't back up their own employees with what they told me 3 time over. Either your employees need to be educated, the info needs to be something they can look up and quote correctly or you need to back up what your people tell customers and eat the mistakes they make. But corporations are running the world and our lives so they will continue to do as they please since we customers have no recourse since they own the government too. Sad.
Was it a smart phone
Do not forget if you get a smart phone it is an additional $10 a month. Remember Verizon will charge 29.99 per line to have the data package and this will go into a new system where you can't get unlimited information soon.

I thought your rant had
I thought your rant had validity to it until I read "This is because you will have TAXES you can complain to Obama if you feel you have been charged unfairly? If you pay for insurance don't for get that's 7 dollars." Why complain to Obama? My taxes for my phone bill is less than $4 a month while Sprint surcharges not imposed by the government is $20.00. Why? To defray their cost. Thats ridiculous and Sprint is ridiculous. Regardless of all the idiotic customers that you speak with; Sprint fails in being customer eccentric. ALL OF THE FEES THAT PEOPLE DISAGREE WITH HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH OBAMA OR THE GOVERNMENT. ITS SPRINT HAVING THEIR CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THEIR EXPENSES!
For people who call sprint and cry.
Okay this might become a longer response than I would like it to.---------Sorry.
I agree with the guy that everyone is calling a sprint rep. I don't agree with the way he talks, but i do agree in a sense of where he is coming from.
I take somewhere around 80 calls in an 8 hour shift. For those of you that don't know that's an average of 5-6 minutes per call. My base pay is 9$ and hour. My IR (Issue Resolution) has never been less than 90% ever.
With such a low (Handle Time) and a Great (Issue Resolve) I make a bonus of 6.50 and hour. A total of 15.50 an hour on every check. For those who want to know what we make. Probably 15% of reps make the maximum bonus.
( Just a FYI to those curious who always ask me that in call and I'm not allowed to say. )
On a darker side of things lets talk about the (Angry) sprint customer. I'm not accusing anyone of anything. For those who don't do anything listed below no need to take offense. :)
Here's what I hear on a daily basis.
-----I keep getting dropped calls.---- I need this to be fixed. (Research shows bad or no coverage in area.) Well I think i should get my ETF waived. --- Sprint gives 30 days to get out of contract when you first sign up. If you have bad service get out before that 30 days. You signed the contract for the area you live in, (regardless of coverage) therefore you cant get ETF waived. However sprint understands if you move to a new location and there is no service there. You never signed contract for that new location. ETF will be waived. Usually sprint will offer to provide you with a device called the Airave. It plugs into your high speed internet modem and sends sprint signal throughout your home. Thus solving your issue at home. :)
-----I want this 36$ Activation Fee/18$ Upgrade Fee credited----- These are valid charges in you contract. The only "Legit" way out is if your discount company has it in their policy. For new customers we understand that a sprint store may have told you don't have an Activation Fee. Sprint stores have the tendency to do this. Why? I have no idea. I don't work at a sprint store. I work for sprint corporate. I was trained for almost 2 months before my first call. Where I'm guessing sprint store reps are not? So what we look for is notes stating that the sprint store told you that. Usually we don't find notes. (Go figure). If its the first time you've called about this we will do a Courtesy Credit..Hence the word Courtesy.... Meaning we don't have to but we understand you were misinformed. For the people who have been with us a while and have Activated a new line/Upgraded before and say they didn't know about it. All we have to do is look in the notes key word "Credit" and see if you have ever had a credit for that reason. If you have--shame on for for lying. You knew full-well you were gonna get that. You just want to get a credit and laugh about it after the call. (I've had people forget to hang up and tell their buddy they "They got it credited again") Lol...Make sure you are off the phone :) We hear lots of stuff we don't need to.
-----I got my service shut off and i want it back on right now or i will cancel my account----- With research, the person has a past due amount. That's typically pas the 10 day GRACE period that sprint offers to begin with. When you do not pay your bill ANY company will shut you out. That includes Light company one of the most important things in your life. They don't care. It's not sprints fault that you didn't call in before your service shut down. Our finance department offers you to make a payment arrangement if you think you will not be able to pay. Call us BEFORE your GRACE period is over and we will be more than happy to keep your services on. All we want is to know whats going on :).. We understand and love you.
-----I have to pay a $ 50-100 DEDUCTIBLE with my insurance on my phone?!------ First of all. This call should not be directed to sprint. This is something you should call Asurion (The Insurance company that Sprint uses.) for. If you bought a Car from Ford and got your insurance from Progressive. Which BTW is a totally different company. Would you call Ford to gripe about Progressives Policies? Also, what insurance company do you know that does not charge a deductible? Sure you pay 7$ a month and have to pay whatever to get you're phone replaced, but its the same with any other insurance. The phone you get is typically over 300$ anyways. If you were to buy it outright.
-----I have been a sprint customer for this amount of years i deserve.....------ Whatever it is that you think you deserve, its not in the contract for that. Sure we offer anniversary credits and contract renewal credit and we aren't even obligated to do that. Like i said its not in the contract. When we change stuff and its not in the contract that you signed you call in raving and ranting about how sorry sprint is. But you are home free. Cancel at will with no ETF. So why do you expect sprint to change stuff for you and not have issues with it? If you feel you must cancel then by all means do so, but our customer return rate is very high and if you do a little research you will find that none of the other companies will give you anything for free with your long-term account either. Sprints the ONLY company with a benefit for paying your bills on time. (Premier Customer) Sometimes we will waive the 18$ Upgrade fee for Premier Customers because they are the closest to " Deserve " anything.
-----Another FYI----- Every time you call in to get your way with something that makes no sense it can lower your "Value" to sprint. It looks just like the signal 5 bars on your phone for service. You can have a 0-5 bar of value. So think twice before you call to complain about something you know is ridiculous. Because your less likely to get anything from sprint in the future the more you are childish.
-----I want this overage fee waived----- Seriously. Why would sprint waive your overage fee? It's also in the contract. Why would we give each plan different amount of minutes or features if you could just go over your usage and get your overage fees waived? You will find that no company in the world will do this for you. Though given the circumstance. If its the first time you had this issue we typically give Courtesy Credit for half of the overages. and tell you how to check your usage so you can call in change your plan or add minutes to your account before you actually go over. Some people deny the credit and want to speak to a manager. I laugh at this because believe it or not. A manager is less likely to give you half then we are. Managers don't like credits on their behalf. Countless times i have offered courtesy credits for half only to have the situation escalated to manager only to have the manager tell them its their fault and not give them what the rep offered. Check usage with *6 from sprint phone at any time. Some customers go over all the time and call in for credit. Threaten to cancel and such. Look, if you cancel then let me know of a company that will not charge you when you go over! :)
-----Sprint don't give me my discount on extra lines anymore----- This is correct. As of 8-1-10 sprint changed the policy that employee discounts only come off the main charge for your plan. Not any extra features. Most peoples response to this is. Well its not in my contract that this was going to happen so i can get out of my contract for free? Or i was not warned about this so i should get a credit/EFT fee waived. First of all. Nowhere in the contract does it state you will even GET an employee discount. So sprint could cut your discount out at any time without notice. So don't call in with that excuse to get out of contract. Also you were warned about the change. On page 2 of your sprint bill in the lower left corner it states that this change would take effect. Printed on the last 2 bills before the change took effect. :) We love you. Read your bills.
-----I pay 10$ for 4G and i don't have 4G in my area WTF?----- Well I can't say that i agree with this charge. It does seem strange. The way i look at it is this. No other provider even has 4G. So that rules out any other company helping you with 4G. Second who's to say you don't travel and end up chilling in a place that has 4G and you use it? If you wanted 4G so bad maybe you shouldn't mind paying 10$ to speed the building process up so more 4G faster? Spring also has tools on the website to let you know if you have 4G in your area. You can also call in and ask us if you have 4G in your area. Back to what i said before. If u just got it and realized it, you have 30 days to get the phone back. No one is making you keep the 4G phone and pay the 10$ charge. If you don't want it i suggest getting a 3G phone?
-----I heard AT&T/Verizon/any other provider had unlimited plan for cheaper than you guys----- Most people will call about this not having the slightest clue what they are talking about. Let me tell you that No other provider first off has what sprint calls " Any Mobile, Any Time " Which allows you to call any cell phone on any network. Unlimited Text/Picture Mail and Unlimited Data with Voice and Data Roaming included Nights and Weekends at 7pm-7am all for only 69.99. Sure your bill may end up higher than that if you don't have a discount with your employer. This is because you will have TAXES you can complain to Obama if you feel you have been charged unfairly? If you pay for insurance don't for get that's 7 dollars. You will have Surcharges as do most companies. And you may have an ASL ( Account Spending Limit ) charge of 4.99. This is based off your credit score with sprint and is to ensure that you dont spend more than you can bargain for on extra features or overages. :) Prove yourself with good payments or sign up for Auto pay to have that waived.
-----Last FYI----- If you don't like what a rep has offered whatever the case may be. If they say there is nothing they can do for you that they want to transfer you. Let them. If you ask for a manager your gonna get the same response. A manager of Billing can only help with billing. If you have issues with phones or returns/phone issues. You will need to speak to a Tech Support Manager. A billing manager can't do anything for you. Doesn't that make since?
I understand that there are things that really become an issue with sprint. Such as your phone failing multiple times after getting replacement after replacement. For a sprint service rep, there is absolutely nothing we can do. Literally nothing in out computer system can help you. The only department that can help for that is usually Technical support or Account Services. There are a lot of things i really hate for customers and wish i could help with but sometimes there's not and i agree with the way they feel about those issues. But if its something i listed above. I have no remorse for you.
Sprint stores usually seem to be the cause. We end up having to fix things they mess up. They might say the same thing about us but they don't ever do much for a customer. Keep in mind that when you talk to someone on the phone changes are they have been there a while and can tolerate people calling them names all day when they are just doing what the company allows them to do. Because a lot of people quit this job. Not many people can handle it. If the rep you have is not much help don't yell at them or call them names they are just tying to help really. They may be new and how do you expect to have good service reps if all the new ones are verbally abused and quit? Helping you helps us. If we get enough no's on the surveys sprint do we get fired. :) If we stay above the goal set by sprint for yes's on surveys we keep our job and get bonuses as well. So don't think for one second we don't care. We will try to resolve your issue. Sometimes there is just nothing we can do. If there is nothing we can do, then we will be more than happy to transfer you to a department that can better assist you. There is no reason for you to get mad or deny to be transferred. What do you hope to accomplish with that? We can just sit there and breathe in each others ear for fun? If there is nothing we can do there is nothing we can do.
I really hope alot of people read this and realize that sprint actually has the highest rated customer service out there and is one of the only companies that has all of their call centers in the United States. Helping the economy and helping customers understand reps better. Sure you may get someone with an accent every now and then, spring can't discriminate against them. That's wrong. But i can assure you that we are located in the U.S. :) Right in the middle of the economic crisis. Sprint gave over 800 people jobs in my area. Do some research and find out where those other companies hire from. :)
Don't threaten to go to another company if you have issues with 4G. I personally don't see the sense in that. What other company will help you with 4G? lol If we can't help you with 4G i bet we can help you with 3G better than those foreign reps :)
I may just write things down next week and post the ridiculous things people say and call me just to let you understand what a sprint rep deals with. lol I might. Maybe you will see a quote of yourself! :)
For those who treat us reps great and understand how much were here to help i thank you and wish there were more of you! You're a valued customer! I even feel like i make short term friends with some of you. Peace
your note
Regarding your note, I must point out some innaccuracies:
There is no 4G on any carrier. Sprint and all other carriers marketing "4G" service, is actually marketing 3.2G and calling it 4G. True 4G is not out and is much faster than anything offered today. Charging for a service that's not being provided is fraud.
Taxes and fees: When cellular carriers started charging taxes and fees to customers, it was their way of passing on the fees that they were supposed to pay. They were supposed to pay them on their own, not pass them on to the customers. Doing this across the industry violates laws regarding price fixing. I'm certain that the only reason it hasn't been challenged in court is because of intense lobbying.
Getting out of Contracts without ETF: I was a Sprint customer w/ 4 lines for perhaps 8 years. When I moved to Florida I had no service at my new address, but tried for months to deal with it. Eventually I called when Sprint raised my rates in the taxes and fees and used this to get out without paying ETF. They refused to cancel my contract. I told them I was canceling due to the fact that the law stated I could because of the fees going up, and they sent collection after collection after me. Each collection agent got a letter explaining the situation and a copy of each previous letter I had sent out to the other collection agents. Eventually Sprint stopped trying to charge me a fee and I believe they eventually dropped the matter after 2 years of trying to steal money from me fraudulently.
Now, because of this, I won't buy my Mom a new Sprint phone. She was sold a faulty one by Sprint, and they won't repair or replace it for her. She wants to stay with them, and I've offered her a line on my ATT account, but she wants to stick with Sprint. Because they mistreated a long time customer, I won't spend a nickel of my money with them ever again. I'd rather buy a pay as you go walmart phone before I go back to Sprint. All because they refused to honor the law and terminate my contract due to raising the fees they charged me without an ETF. As an internationally recognized writer, and comedian, I have used word of mouth to tell everyone I know about Sprint, and have personally caused over a dozen people to leave Sprint for other carriers. All because of how I was treated. Noone offered to send me an "airwave" nor did anyone offer to end my contract as I requested when I called to do so based on the law
One more thing. I was a victim of some sort of phone cloning scam at one point, and some of the contested calls were credited to my account and others weren't. Despite me calling multiple times to clear it up, and being assured that the credit would reach my account, it never did. This was just one more reason to leave sprint. Their security dept assured me I wouldn't be charged for these calls, yet they weren't taken off my bill.
"4g fee"
Um, the 4g fee is not for 4g. It's for arbitrary marketing words like "premium data". It means nothing. It's a spurious extra charge levied on people who get nothing of value in return for it. explainthefee.com
So True! Thank you!
I just finished reading through your post and have to tell you when I got to the part where you said "Sprint stores usually seem to be the cause. We end up having to fix things they mess up. They might say the same thing about us but they don't ever do much for a customer."
I totally agree with your statement and please let me say a HUGE Thank You for what you do for us, as the customer. I thought it was just me and that I was the only one who would run into misinformation and mistakes made with my account when going into the sprint store and having to call in if things were going to be fixed.
I have had two major debacles in the last few years when dealing with the sprint store and both times I was able to find resolution by calling the sprint customer service line after I got home. In each instance, I was able to end the call with my issue having been resolved and things made right again, by agents who were kind, courteous and who took the time to understand what the issue was and explain how they could resolve it and then making that happen. I have great respect for what you do and hope you know that there are sprint customers out here who do notice and appreciate the job you do and the excellent service you are providing to us.
Thank you again!!!
PS – Your post had also answered my original question about the changes that were made to the employee discounts…. I had been wondering about that the last few bills (had decided to try to find out online if there had been a policy change before I went calling anyone) – safe to say I missed that on the bills that were sent out before the change, so thank you for the good info.
"for people who call sprint and cry"
thanks for making things clear to the bird brains out there. i am a sprint customer and sometimes the phone service sucks but what am i to do about it, bitch, gripe and whine? hey, suck it up and deal with it or get out of the contract and go somewhere else. what disappoints ME mostly is sprint offers no incentive to re-sign any contract their for the valued customer who faithfully fulfilled their previous contract...................
etf
now reading about th etf and moving to a new locations , in which i have and was sent the airwave , which of course is just another way of taking my money for my service , it really is just a run around i mean it has takin 3 days so far to set up this airwave crap which still isnt working , and all i hear is people beating around the bush bush the long i get di#Ked around i guess the more sprint gets of my money . that sounds about right!!! and to speack of best buy i am in sale and customer service is number one where i work if theres a wrong price and the customer see it or we tell him the lower price then thats what he pays, this i s y u hear people bitching stop saying one thing and doing another, take care of the customer beter then the rest and offer a quility service dont half azz it ,dont get me wrong i like sprint better then verizon but dang verizone does kick sprint ass in covage and dependability.
I know where you work
LOL. Just read this and loved it so much bc 1) It's exactly on point except that part about $10 for 4G, 2) I know I work for the same company you do maybe even in the same call center HS is the one I work in. Keep it up brother/sister!
You guys still work there?
You guys still work there? Random HS employee reading at six in the morning. Lol
lol
That's the one ;)
For people who call sprint and cry.
Beside couple of typos, this is a very impressed and well put post. Thank you for these inside info.
For people who call sprint and cry.
Thank you for your insightful comments. It is informing and you have done a great job in making things much more understandable. I am a premier customer and I wrote to Sprint regarding my Samsung Moment and the numerous problems I have with it. I was glad they responded to me and offered me $150.00 towards a new phone upgrade, since I am not eligible until Feb. 2011 (3 months). I have stayed with Sprint and have suffered this year through problems with web, data, etc. and because I am a loyal Sprint customer I did everything I could to mitigate my situation. I have advanced Leukemia now and I need a smart phone now more than ever and I need to be able to count on Sprint for service and support. I am not looking to maneuver for a new phone, but my records indicate that I always upgrade to the newest technology when I can. Sprint has prohibited me from selecting the Evo or Epic. It has 4 G service and I would have to pay an additional 10.00 per month and commit to another 2 years, which is not a problem. For whatever reason(s) it seems unfair and non supportive to permit me a $150.00 instant rebate credit and require 2 more years and not allow me to upgrade to the new technology. I am not mad, just sad. Anyway, great info and keep up the good work. I will try once more than make a decision if I am unsuccessful to probably move to another carrier and I will do so reluctantly. Thank you. EJ Wright, Jr.

Awesome way to tell customers to eat $hit
The crappy service that kept getting worse costing me customers is why I canceled sprint. I complained in June and nothing happened, complained again in august nada..I cancel and the bastards charged me 120 for a nextel i335 phone or at least that is what the lady at sprint stated.
She said it wasn't an early cancellation fee but a charge for the "new" phone. The final bill says early termination fee. This i a giant scam.. period.
I told her you can buy a NEW ONE for 10 on ebay with no contracts.
She said nothing she can do you cancelled early. I was was with sprint for 12 years before the decline in service and used it for my business.
I truly hope this crappy run company goes tits up.
you
Great way to surf the net to try and save your companies image. to funny!!
You work for Sprint your a
You work for Sprint your a homo, Sprint does suck, I have had issues with a LG phone NOT working I have been a customer for 6 months and have been through 4 phones and I still have issues, Sprint is too chicken to go after LG, and won't help for crap. You reps suck, I sat on the phone while some little white trash queen was laughing and farting around with someone, tickling each other playing grab ass while I was trying to be professional ( I have been in the Military for 15 years ) and she couldn't even answer my questions cause she was laughing so hard playing grab ass. Don't sit here and patronize your customers, who by the way pay YOUR salary. You better get your heads out of your a#$es and start helping some of your valued customers, I understand some idiots crying over stupid crap, however when you have a legitimate customer complaint, you DAMN WELL better take care of them, cause guess what? My friend is a judge, and after reading your message on here, she said she has no problem charging Sprint with violations of contracts against customers who get no help and have issues like mine. Better think twice before you spout off and gripe at your customers cause guess what, I CAN get out of my contract without those ETF's...The Army does have its privileges
Awesome!
If you had read what i wrote before then you would have noticed that that post was towards people who ARE crying over stupid crap. I wrote that if you don't do anything listed below then don't take offense. I understand that there are crappy sprint reps at sprint. Also why i stated that we have a high turn over rate for employees, because sprint does not tolerate it. You have to think there are close to 1000 reps per center, maybe one manager per 20 reps. Managers have a lot of work to do. Do you really think that sprint can monitor every single call to see if a rep is not abiding by the rules? It's just a case of WHEN they catch them. This is also why i stated you can use the Contact Us link at sprint.com to complain about a rep. Corporate spring will review and listen to the call and if someone was really acting like that, then they would get fired. There's no warnings. So if you DO have an issue with someone, and feel you are not getting good customer service, do your part and complain. As for working for the army, good luck with that and i appreciate what you are doing for the country. :) IF they offer you a way out then take it. I don't have a problem with people getting out of contract for valid reasons. As for your statement on Valued customer..If you are talking to every sprint rep the way you post, then i can guarantee your status with sprint is anything BUT valued. Good luck with your Judge friend and Army status!
just to let you know!
I think you wrote a great article I agree with you! I've been a sprint customer since my first cell phone there were times that things did'nt go well ie: accidental data chg from messaging phone, best buy selling us wrong phone etc.. but everytime i've called sprint i was polite and listened to them and they listened to me and i was satisfied! We get great coverage and I want to stay with them, I'm up for a upgrade in two weeks i do wish that upgrades could get the same price on new phones though! It seems to me you would want to keep the customers you have and build with new customers so why the difference?
Thank You
I'm glad to hear you are having good customer service with sprint. I wish i could have caught your post earlier. Sprint actually can make an exception for you if you are 14 days or less from your upgrade date. All they need is a good reason and they don't mind helping you out 2 weeks in advance. (Issues with current phone/Bad service are good reasons.) That's basically what and upgrade is, its a reason to keep current customers when their contract is close to being expired. When you are a new customer you get the same thing as an Upgrade for signing up, which is 150 off whatever phone you choose. Of the phone is listed as free with upgrade its free, if the phone is listed as $500 then you will get it for $350 plus whatever mail-in rebate is offered, usually $100 for new phones. :) Thanks for your post
Contract Termination
I was trying to find the sprint service contract online to read if i could opt out of the etf because the service in my area has not worked for 6 weeks now, but couldn't find it. When I call customer service they tell me that there is a network issue and they are working on it or there is something wrong with my phone. Everyone I know that has sprint here has no service either. So I know it's not my phone. I have 3 lines and sprint wants to charge me $600 for etf. It's very frustrating b/c I have two kids I'm trying to keep up with and this is the only phones we have. I have been a sprint customer for many years and this is the first real issue I've ever had but I cant be with out a phone. My question to you is, since sprint service here is no longer working can I get out of the etf?
Thank You
Thanks for the post. I can see how this would be frustrating. My question would be. When you first signed up was there service in the area, because if there was then yes, it sounds like you are having a network issue. If it's been the same since you first signed up, then really you should have used the 30 days to quit before it locked you in contract with sprint. If you moved to a different location and you don't have service there then you qualify to get out of the ETF. I can't say that i think its network issues because sprint usually fixes that within 2-3 days. I would call in and have them "refresh you service" because sometimes after a network outage the phone never picks up service, it just sits there in an idle state. Hope this helps.
dont be ridiculous
why dont u mention that they system is mesthod, how come my contract was renew withouth my concern, why u dont mention that when customer call customer services offer bonus to get people renew they plan and they dont say that is a temporary bonus, they just want to get more people, when they see your contract is about to end they offer u bonus to get u and them screw u over when your bonus expire and u are not aware so u go over the limit. you sound like a frustrated person that cant get a better job. is not the customer fault that u dont get pay good, u make the decision to work for them i guess because thats the only thing u could get. go to school to get a better job, dont blame the client of the worse system of sprint. you really sound ridiculous.
Thank You
Thank you for the post. Just to let you know, your contact can't renew on its own. If someone did renew your contract for you in an illegitimate way, then its easy to fight. 1) Ask when the contract was renewed. 2) Ask for a supervisor. 3) Tell the supervisor you want to listen to the call made on that date. 4) If there was no talk about renewing your contract on that date, then they will fix that date for you.
As for your comment about getting bonus for renewing your contract. This is correct. We get "Value Points" for all kinds of stuff we do on your account, weather it be telling you about your premier status, talking you into adding a line/connection card. Renewing your contract and a lot more. With the right amount of "Value Points" we can increase out check by more than a few hundred dollars per check.
Honestly, if i wanted a better job its really not that hard. I consider sprint to be a great job though. Work indoors, no physical work, very comfortable atmosphere, ergonomics, Hi Def TV's in the break rooms. They have free lunches all the time whether is be a cookout in break room a pot luck where everyone brings something, the other day they bought somewhere around 300 Dominoes pizzas as thanks for out centers stats, Approved time off on short notice, base pay at 9.00 (15.50) for me. Overtime offered anytime. Ive seen checks of up to $1900 per two weeks with bonus and value points, so if you think that's a bad job then maybe you havent seen the economy lately. :) Anyways thanks for the post, no need to get offensive.
curious
My husband and I have been sprint customers for over 6 years and I was wondering if anyone could tell me why I can get service with nextel and not with the sprint phones. Always had a PTT phone and when I was eligible for an upgrade wanted a sprint b/c the PTT aren't that smart got my rant and didn't get any of my calls and had no tower (except outside and then it was 2 bars) replaced my phone 3 times be4 giving up and switching back to a PTT with my PTT I get a full tower in the house, but they are both sprint?
Thank You
Thanks for the post. I've seen this a few times, Even though spring owns Nextel they don't use the same towers. In your location you may have 5-6 good Nextel towers but little or no Sprint towers. Sprint also owns Boost Mobile. But they don't run off the same towers either. I agree with you that Nextel needs better phones, they are more for construction workers and endurance rather than high performance. Hopefully they will get some sprint towers in your area soon. Sprint.com will let you check service in your area for Sprint and Nextel and will also show you where the towers are.
towers
so all these companies are owned by sprint but dont use the same towers. i am willing to bet if sprint merged all these towers service coverage would increase greatly and solve all of my issues. just a thought.
SPRINT/NEXTEL TOWER DIFFERENCES
to better clarify the answer you were given about this issue, let me say this. sprint and nextel did merge BUT they are two SEPARATE networks. Sprint phones are on the CDMA network where as nextel phones are on the iDEN network. basically this means that the networks run off of two different frequencies, which is why you have your separate sprint and nextel devices. sprint devices will not work with nextel towers and vice-versa. Another example of tower differences can be explained with roaming. sprint and verizon are the only two networks in the USA that use the CDMA network. So when you have sprint but are roaming, this basically means that you are connected to a verizon tower because your sprint phone is not in range of a sprint tower. the same works for verizon customers when they are roaming using our towers. There is much more I could go in to about why the separate networks even still exist, or what the benefits of two separate networks are for both Sprint/Nextel AND for their customers. I just wanted to provide a general answer. hope this helps!!
9.99 vs 19.99 add-on for lines
Hi - see this link ... there are 2 different plans. The Everything Messaging plan allows for add-ons at 9.99 and the Everything Data plan allows for add-ons at 19.99 ... basically, if the third (thru fifth) member is using data, the add-on is 19.99. hope that helps !
I switched from TMobile to Sprint b/c I didn't want to pay $30 per month for data ... the Everything Data plans also has unlimited cell phone to (any network) cell phone.
Also, if you call TMobile, the wait time these days is approx. 45 minutes ! I have called several times. Their call centers are in the US, in cheaper cost of living areas as opposed to the Philipines, so it seems they can't staff as much and hence the longer wait.
Ask if your account is prorated.
I just canceled my account early, and they said my account is prorated (which should be for all of their customers). The closer you are to the date of your contract ending, the cheaper the cancellation fee is. Mine used to be over $300, now it is only $75. I would ask them. If it's too expensive to cancel now for you, then wait a few months and see if it's affordable for you then.
SPRINT SUCKS... I NEED A WAY OUT!!!
I'm wasting 75 dollars a month with sprint. Im in Shreveport, La and i only have 2 bars... the coverage is ALWAYS either roaming or 1X.... WTF is 1X??? They don't advertise 1X! My phone only seen EG when i drive to Tx or to the East ie Va.. I've never seen 1G, 2G, 3G and they're braging about 4?? I can't text certain numbers, i CONSTANTLY miss calls, and the only reason i know i missed the calls is because the program i downloaded emails me whenever i miss a call, the only reason im able to use my internet is because i have WIFI... and the customer service sucks! I called with a problem about not receiving txt messages and the lady told me to reset my phone :-/ if it was that simple i would have never called... then she asked besides the problem that i called for have she answered all my question... !@#@ Sprint!
I Need a way out! i don't want to pay 200 dollars to get out, but im about to..
waive etf
if you have fair or no coverage and you can fax over documentation of proof of where you live the Early termination fee is waived... duh
What do you think people are stupid
First off you are all idiots that act like people at sprint have to kiss your ass. You pay them for service and thats what they give you if you don't like it get the f*** out no one if forcing you to stay with sprint but don't think that you should take responsiblity for some of the crap you do. For those people who call and whine about the bill being so high well maybe you should pay your bill and it wouldn' t be to high and then expect when you get and a late fee we are suppose to give you something. Hell you why should they give you something if you can't pay your bill. And maybe if there wasn't things like this on the internet they would believe what your saying more but they know ya'll are lieing so they give you that crap to get you off the phone. You think the grass is greener by all means go ahead and see by the time you pay for your deposit new phone and plan and get with a company who doesn't care that your late like att and they shut ur phone off then you'll really be whining I can't pay my bill and now you can't use your damn phone either. My best friend works that an the crap he goes through is not neccesary if your an adult act like it if you want to curse someone out save it for the supervisors because the rep take crap that they shouldn't be cause by the time you have whined about something once the second rep you get will be the one who is actually wanting to help you and then you want to act like total dicks hell no and then you give that like" ive been with sprint for like 15 years news flash who cares. What next when your momma dont give you ur way ur going to say Ive bee your child for 30 years. Ur momma would tell you where to go and what to do to get there. you want respect give it and take responsiblity if your child did something on your for as a matter of fact if you did it on your phone then dont blame it on your kid and say oh i know my child wouldn't truth is you don't know your child they were probably smoking a big blunt before they went on there phone and downloaded all that crap or hell you may have been playing with your phone but own up to it. you know what I want you to do I want you to call your electric company and say my child left the light on can i have credit because i shouldn't be responsible please. And for those that want out of there contract i dare you to put this crap " oh I want to cancel" with another provider because I work for verizon and we will cancel you like right then and there by the time we get off the phone your phone won't be working.
Bravo, good post. People do
Bravo, good post. People do need to take responsibility for thier actions. Maybe if they did it would a better place for everyone.

Your Grammar is so terrible. You really need to learn. It's painful reading your post.
WE EXPECT TO GET WHAT WE PAY FOR.
"Looking for a way out" "taking responsibility for the 'crap' we do"????
I didn't sign up for Sprint's TERRIBLE customer service. Trying to get help from that company is a joke. It's like a SNL skit. The incompetency (Sound it out sweetheart. You'll get it.) is so ludicrous it would be funny if I wasn't getting ripped off every month. I bought a phone that didn't have the pre-loaded software it was supposed to have. Sprint said, "Sorry, it isn't supposed to be on there." The phone's manual says it's supposed to be there. The reviews I read, and the un-boxing videos I watched showed it there. I emailed the company who made the phone. THEY said it was supposed to be pre-loaded on the phone. There's no way to download the app, because it's SUPPOSED TO BE ON THE PHONE ALREADY. My husband even GOT THE SAME PHONE, and IT WAS THERE, PRE-LOADED, as it was supposed to be. Do you know the response I got from Sprint after telling them all of this? "Sorry you were misinformed. It isn't supposed to be pre-loaded with that app." Are you KIDDING ME? What a bunch of BS. I want to get what I PAY for, which is acceptable customer service. SPRINT IS A RIP OFF. They take your money every month and provide NO SUPPORT. I'm stuck using a defective phone now because of Sprint's lazy RUDE employees.
If you DO work for Sprint, (which I'm guessing you do.) I'm not at all surprised by your horrible, childish, nasty attitude. It actually makes a whole lot of sense. With employees like you, how could the company be anything but garbage?
Its so bad, its funny
We are paying the "pro-rated" termination fee next month. We don't let it bother us any more. It's been one thing after another and when my Father died 3 weeks ago and I missed messages from my family coming into town from the east coast (they are Sprint customers and were calling from my city) waiting for me or my Brother to pick them up at the airport. I got the messages 4 days later. This was the straw that broke the camels back. My wife called for me. The Sprint reps have answers for everything, "its your phone", maybe there were problems, but they are all fixed, take your phone into a sprint office and have them check your phone out, blah, blah and blah. We will pay a total of aroun $120 and just get the heck away from Sprint. It's not worth the headache. You cannot get out of the contract no matter what you say, so just pay the early termination fee and move on. I normaly don't accept extremely poor customer service, slamming extra phone lines on my bill without permission, people pretending to be supervisors, or the supervsors is never in and will tell me the same thing that the rep just told me. Sprint won, but lost a 10+ year customer.
Grammar
Wow, your grammar is horrible.
I bet you work at Sprint.
I bet you work at Sprint. Perhaps you're higher up there, given you are so defensive. Nice way to represent. If you do work at Sprint, they need to hire someone with better spelling and punctuation skills; your message was as good as a 3rd grader's. No, I'm not one of those people looking for a way out. This web address was the first one to pop up when I searched for how long it takes for a cancellation confirmation to appear on your account online (I did pay my cancellation fee in whole and was never late on a payment, so don't try to accuse me otherwise as some lame comeback). Why am I leaving Sprint? Their coverage blows. Plain and simple, you're a retard who gets worked up over shit that isn't even your problem. Or perhaps it is; maybe you're sleeping with the CEO?
HAHAHA....
U wish, u wish u worked for Verizon....hahaha, feel bad for u, find a better job then just maybe, just maybe...... you dont get the a$$ and D***'s in your face talk. I been with verizon and i got alot of friends on verizon and we all agree its the best carrier out there. So you being so pissed and someones comment about sprint means you work for those losers. If i buy a product and it cant do the things they promised me they do before i buy it, then that product is considered defecting and you get a refund or exchange for it. Bye the way verizon cant cancel you about bitching so get your facts straight and read the fine prints.
Actually you Idiots I don't
Actually you Idiots I don't work for sprint as I stated I have a friend who works there. And the way people treat the people that work at any carrier I fucked up period. Just because something happens where you can't pay your bill doesn't mean its our fault and you want us to pay for it. Its way out of line when you call someone a Bitch, Slut, Or worse the N word when you don't know them. I've worked for them before, I'm not going to lie but I moved. Sprint use to be great until people like those who can't pay there bill, think there owed something all because of what??? nothing. How about this since you want to complain about being with sprint so long why dont you call your electicity, cable, or car and say I've been with you for so long blah blah and see if they dont laugh in your face. and if you have a problem with my spelling deal with it. When I heard my friend was called the N word that was so screwed up.
What a joke
Why would I call them my electric doesn't always skip out or work at half azz. My cable doesn't drop shows in the middle of them. Really thats your defense. The only time that stuff happens is because of a big storm or disaster and guess who's calling all there guys in to fix that sort of thing. Never seen sprint out there on polls working to tighten their coverage. Also funny you say your friend then to refer to you as we and our. Your a joke and I can see why people yell at you.
Sprint is Still Expensive and You're Still Sprint
I understand that people shouldn't treat Sprint employees like crap, but for you to rant like Sprint isn't expensive is wrong. And, your defense of Sprint means you're still Sprint, even though you no longer work there. Sprint is highly expensive. As an example, my wife called home to Japan last month for a total of 2 hours, and it cost us $300. That's insane! Especially, when you can make the same calls with phone cards, or IP phones at a much cheaper rate. The people at Sprint are being greedy. Needless to say, but we'll no longer make international calls with Sprint.
Maybe she should have added
Maybe she should have added the international plan for a few days for 5$ to bring her rates to lower than 10 cents a minute?? Sprint loves you this is why we offer this. (Next?)
sprint is still expensive?
Really John? I have sprint. with 1500 minutes of anytime calling but never use it since I get FREE MOBILE TO MOBILE to ANY CELL PHONE in the US. Not just Sprint Customers. So I never use my actual minutes and I actually pay for three lines 129.99 per month before taxes.... Unlimited text, web, live tv, and everything else you can think of. Just one IPHONE on AT&T will set you back 100 per month and thats with like 450 minutes. So, not sure how sprint is more expensive...
On your call to Japan, did you bother to check with them to see what a international call would cost? Do you know that it is expensive than VOIP and IP Calling cards for a reason... These are cell phones. CALL ANY CARRIER, and you will see that if you don't have an international plan then you will pay a much higher rate. Its called CASUAL RATES... other international plans cost an extra monthly fee and if you don't call a lot then it doesn't make sense...
But back to your point... by your reasoning, if you always rent a car at Enterprise and you do it for 29.99 per day, but then you go to a place that rents Ferraris, would you not ask them how much it would be? or would you "assume" that it was the same rate as the other place?
I do not work for sprint, but I have worked in the telecom business for over 10 years and do not work in it now. So I have no Bias with one company over another. Some carriers have better service in certain areas and you have to figure that out on your own but for me, Sprint has the best data and voice coverage where I live and work, and to boot their overall price for what i get is screaming... but if the service didn't work, I would definitely leave that company.
Yes
International calls are still expensive, and my cell phone's no Ferrari. No, we didn't check the pricing. We were so used to cheaper rates, that we couldn't fathom calls being that expensive. Anyway, we won't use our cell phone for international calls, like I said.
Sell it for price of cancellation?
You could sell your evo for the price of cancellation? Hell Id give you the $200 for it. I enjoy Sprint in my area its great. I would like an Evo for my wife too. If youre interested send a reply ;)
sell evo
Evo 4 sale

www.5linx.net/gabbyf look at that site and get your upgrades. You still with your phone comaony but you get great deals on the hardware. EVO out of stock right now.
Sure it's discounted
They are refurbished and you will have issues to call sprint with within 2 weeks. When you bought the phone from a completely different company. lol
WAY OUT!
I get my bills online and they never itemize what I bought when I bought it or if I approved it nothing. And there is an option to go on last 2 years of purchase via online or at store. Someone has been buying using my account. I have em by the balls.

You have nothing.
First off why would you wait 2 years to complain about it? It could have been taken care of in the beginning. Don't say you pay your bill automatically and never look at it because im sure you look at your bank statements. Basically its your fault for not noticing it earlier. We don't babysit things bought on your account. If you have issues with it talk to the Fraud department they will investigate. Look at times that u were on the phone and internet. They can tell if you are lieing lol. If not they will credit it for you. But you are still stuck to contract. Read it. Don't relpy to 800 number texts as u could get charged monthly from a 3rd part company. Not Sprint. If its a sprint charge such as TV/ Music or Ringtones. Don't say you didn't know about it because sprint give your like 3 "Are You Sure's" before you get the charge lol.
Help me out
How can I get out??????????? I`m a customer for over 9 years. Sprints phones are terrible! I just signed up for a 2 years in January. Now it is June and I went through 4 phones already. I want Iphone. How the hell can I get out??? I told them about the raised fees but they still want to charge me 360 (2 lines) ETF. What can I do now?? Pls HELP
No EFT
I don't think you tried the
I don't think you tried the evo yet because if your leaving over phones and not the service to get a iPhone your setting yourself up for some serious disapppointment. First Att is the most expensive carrier I am on family plan with business discount and it's 20-30 dollars more a month then every other network. I have Att I own a iPhone it's good but the evo is alot better and it kicks the crap out of the iPhone 4 I saw a guys screen turn yellow my retina had no problem seeing that. Reconsider what your doing
Cricket
I pay 40.00 a month for cricket and get unlimited local long distance no web but get pix. or go blackberry plan with everything for 60.00 a month with cricket.
i have cricket
i have cricket and the only thing good about it is its low, steady bills but i always get bad service and they charge so much for the phones they have a new blackberry and they want almost 300 dollars for it but if you go to verizon or something the blackberry is free. So idk what is better low steady price and crappy phone and service or nice phone and service and crappy bill?? Well i guess it all comes down to "you get what you pay for"
Lower phone cause
It cost more cause there is not contract. Also they will reprogram a phone from another carrier. You just have to bring it in. Remember tho, once you reprogram it, you will never be able to use it on another service provider. They also have plans for internet.
Sprint Is Great!!!!
I don't know why everyone is complaining about sprint.
I have 450 monthly minutes
Night/Weekends starting @ 7pm
Free Unlimited Texts
Free Unlimited Web/Data Usage
and I pay $53.47 every month.
I think that's pretty good :)
ummm how
i got the same thing excpet i got 2 phones but im payin 180 a month
do what?
I have three lines, 1500 min, unlimited data, and I dont pay anywhere near 180. my bills are usually about 140 tpo 145. you should have your plan checked out if you have not already done so.
Even Sprint Employees Will Tell You
I'll preface my statements by saying that I've never owned a landline and have run/contact my company, employees, clients, and family and friends with my cellphone. I had an unbelievably horrible experience with Sprint for a year (2004 - 2005) over billing. Not one of their Reps I spoke with had the same information and I couldn't get anything in writing from anyone at the company...for over a year! For 5 years I swore that I would never go back to Sprint, but my girlfriend wanted me to sign up for a family plan that included a company discount. We have unlimited everything for $105/mo. The only problem...the phones doen't work and the cellular service is horrible. I should have trusted my gut when I saw multiple people cancelling their contracts in the store while I was signing up. But no, I wanted to save $20-30/mo. to get a cellular carrier that doesn't work. After 4 months of dropped calls, missed voicemails, apologizing to clients for poor reception Sprint customer service would not work with me because they said that I have coverage in these places (I live 2 miles from Downtown Charlotte, NC, a city with 1.6 million people) and I get service 50% of the time. They wanted me to purchase a $99 booster for my office and home and would wave the $6/mo fee per booster if I signed another 2 year contract. Unbelievable. The $200 cancellation fee is a bargain if that means cancelling a $53 cell bill ($105/2 people) for service that doesn't work to get a working phone for $30/mo more. Even the Sprint Employees admitted to me that their customer service is horrible and they have poor cell service even though their coverage maps show differently.

That's because you don't have
That's because you don't have a family plan.
8 times sprint lied to me. I would try to upgrade a phone with no plan change...they mess up my plan...is that possible?
7 times they resolved their lies/mistakes....blatant lies.
That is why i am now a Verizon Customer. No one is held accountable at Sprint...its sad.
Good Network.....Sh*t Customer service.
Charges!!
Sprint guaranteed me that I would have no extra charges after they helped me improve my service.. I just got my new bill and theres three new charges on there- one for a service upgrade fee.. and second one is for a line activation fee (mind you we did not add a line and already paid activation fees for our existing phones when we opened out contract 7 months ago) and an enhanced voice fee.. are all these new charges grounds for breaking a contract?! it comes to 86.00 more a month.. its nonsense to me... please help me get out of this contract!
Nope Sorry
Upgrade fees are in the contract. Read my above post for more info. If the activation fee was placed there and you didnt activate a NEW line then they will waive it. Enhanced Voice is not included in ANY plan with sprint. If you find it let me know. Enhanced Voice and exactly as it says Enhanced. Such as Enhanced Text Messages. Texts that talk to you. Completely different from a regular text/picture/video mail
Fake Contract Termination
If I were to make and send Sprint a fake document for military orders to get out of my contract early will they try and verify it through the Department of Defense?
Re: Fake Contract Termination
I personally find this offensive considering my Husband proudly serves Active Duty! Just sayin....
Military
Why would you be proud about being in the military???
Completely agree with with
Completely agree with with the person who wrote the above comment. That's pathetic to use that as a way out. Um, you know how to get out? Pay your bill off, then pay the cancellation fee... Wow, how about that, honest and simple. Lying about duty? Dishonorable, disgusting, and an insult to those who are actually serving. My advice, DON'T DO IT.
they will not verify
they will not verify it!
whenever i want a new phone that they bring out, i just open a new line and get it at the discounted price. then i send them a copy of orders that i found on google, that i put my name on.
they cant do anything about it, because orders are not disclosed to any cell phone companies, beyond the paper you send them.
Department of Defense wont even talk to them about your orders.
the guy that says "dont even think about it" probably works from sprint lol
yes they will dont try it!
yes they will
dont try it!
dont even think about it
dont even think about it dude...

7 frustrating years with
7 frustrating years with sprint, I recieved my new bill in the mail 4 days ago, and the price went up 2 dollars. Found this site, went and had my number ported over to a new co. Call Sprint this evening and etf's were waived due to material changes. The lady on the other end was very polite and took care of the etf's in one min.
Best way to proceed
So should I just port my number over to somebody else(Metro PCS) then call Sprint to close my account and start the whole ETF argument? Now they are charging me 4.99 for a spending limit program that I did not ask for,and have never used.
u have spending limit on your
u have spending limit on your account so that your deposit isnt high..... the spending limit is based on your credit. you must have bad credit....sign up for automatic payments on sprint.com and you will not have to pay the fee. or go call and ask for manual credit review and if you have had positive payment history they will take the spending limit off.
pay your ill ontime and you
pay your ill ontime and you probably won't have a spending limit
I just got off the phone with
I just got off the phone with sprint...After 12 Years with Sprint they continue to dick around with me! I tried to terminate early and wouldn't budge even after I told them about the regulatory fees and such, They also wouldn't give me the credit they had promised me at the beginning of the converstation because I am considering cancelling they will not apply the credit. help! Get me OUT!
Contact the FCC
Just contact the FCC. When this happens Sprint is require to reply and work with you. This little known option is known to get a lot of people out of their contracts due to charges that shouldn't be there or miss representations.
why would they help you if
why would they help you if your canceling?
Lol
lmao at reply so true
Federal-Univ Serv Assess Non-LD
Federal-Univ Serv Assess Non-LD is this considered a material change? mine went from 2.00 to 2.45
hi how did u do this? my bill
hi how did u do this? my bill went up 3 dollars actually...what did you say to get the ETF charges waived?
Cheap
Really who the hell cancels over a few bucks. Not all charges on your bill that "go up" are legit reasons for cancellation. The ASL Account spending limit was not in contract so you could cancel for that. But you only have 2 months from when the policy took effect to cancel. If your going to cancel don't wait a year to do so just because you found some other reason you don't like sprint and try to use an old reason to get out. lol New customers have the ASL in their contract.
How did you convinced them?
I am very upset with Sprint after 10yrs of services. I have the 69.99 plan and with all these charge it went up to 100. It's ridiculous and I had it. I am about to call and cancel my contract that was renew last year. I am going to Simple Mobile that has unlimited NATIONAL and International texting and calling for 40 with no extra fees. Is a prepaid that runs with the T-mobile network. My best friend from San Jose, CA recommend it to me and he says the call quality is great. Are you kidding me? With these present economic times I can't afford to give away my hard earned money like that.
the same thing happened with
the same thing happened with my bill. i have the same plan and i cannot understand how they do this.
Cheap Also
Ever checked your government taxes. As you know taxes fluctuate. Sprint has no control of that so i would look there first. If not then by all means call us and see whats up. :)

With these present economic times I can't afford to give away my hard earned money like that.
sprint
i want to cancel my service with sprint and not pay a etf, can anyone help? ive been with sprint for about a year. i have three lines on the acount and the most recent one added around christmas. i have already tried fighting sprint with this and they wont budge. my etf is $450. any ideas?
Well I have been with Sprint
Well I have been with Sprint for a little over a year, and I am now canceling with them. Apparently, there is a new thing they have where your contract is pro-rated. The closer you get to your contract end date, the cheaper your cancellation fee is. My previous cancellation fee was $200, now it's just $80. So I would just wait month by month, until they give you the price of the current cancellation fee that is affordable for you.
FYI
The lowest it will reach is $50 then it stays the same until contract is up. :)
i have had sprint for about
i have had sprint for about 10 years and we have just simple phones. we dont have picture mail or data. every month they charge me about 10 dollars worth of picture mail per line , (we have six) is this a reason to be able to cancel without etf or does it only work if you talk about the new charges? usually out bill is around 200 but this month it is like 330 and when you total everything up, it doesn't add up can i mention this to get them to cancel my contract?
What i would have done.
Actually you do have Picture mail regardless if your plan has it included. Same with data. We don't block the features from you right off the bat. We allow you to use it, at the risk of overages. If you know its not in your plan or aren't sure but you notice it working, why not call and ask whats up? I would tell you what i just told you then offer to have data or picture mail services Blocked from your phones. Thus solving the issue the first month. If you know its not in your plan, or aren't sure. Don't just sit there and use it. Its funny because people will use it thinking hey. I dont have this in my plan and its working for me. Sweet i bet spring wont notice and im getting it for free. Lol Then you realize we billed you for it and you cry.
Sprint Representative?
You're kidding right? So, your saying the customer is liable for the charges posted onto his/her account due to the fact he/she SHOULDN'T have that feature enabled anyways?
It's not the customers fault for YOUR error, it would be out of pure courtesy if he/she decides to call & report the error, ofcourse one would take advantage of anothers mistake, its the one who made the mistake(Sprint) who are suppose to correct it.
How are you customer service for Sprint, when you are mocking the people who help fund your paycheck/bonus. Ignorance is nothing to be proud about.
no because if something is
no because if something is not included in your plan you get charged for casual usage....duh...stop using things that arent included in your plan and you wont get charged for it...

getting out of Sprint contract
I missed the sprint change from 20 cents to 40 cents a couple of months ago. But now I notice on my current bill that the "federal univ serv access non-LD" charge has gone up 11 cents - does this give me the ability to get out of my contract early? I can get out soon anyway, and am going pre-paid - probably AT&T - the rates are cheaper - you just have to pay full price or most of the price for your phone, but with cheaper rates and freedom to change, it will be worth it to pay a little more for the phone.
you must be on crack if you
you must be on crack if you think ATT rates are cheaper than sprint
Phone number no longer available
I tried contacting the number given below, 866-235-1185 and its no longer available. We have an Airrave, which is the only way reception works at home, and they just started charging for it. I want to use this as grounds for dropping Sprint. Do you experts think this is sufficient grounds to get out without ETF charges?
Thanks in advance.
nope... they will just refund
nope... they will just refund those charges back to you
Terminating Internet Card
Hello,
Can someone please help me regarding the ETF, I got a plan for their wireless internet service in January and have been very unhappy with Sprint, My plan was for just about $60 and my bill comes to $100 monthly because I go Over the Limit on the internet usage when I do not use it or cannot use it because it is too slow! Ive called and complained before but how can I end this Contract since its for internet service and sucks! someone please help me before another month goes by! Thanks to all!
I had an ETF along with my
I had an ETF along with my cell phone. I wanted to cancel the ETF card, same reason, cost to much! Called Sprint, they told me I'd have to pay the 250 early termination, and we argued that if I had to do that I was cancelling my cell too and going elsewhere. So they came up with me switching my cell phone to their ETF card number (I didn't even know it had a phone number) and I took on the two year contract that the ETF had onto my cell, which wasn't under contract. Now I'm counting the days to the end of this contract and Sprint can kiss mine. I'm moving to Metro PCS. No contract, no overages. 9 more months with Sprint though feels like an eternity... and my cell phone is on it's way out.
So if you want to get out of your ETF, have them switch it to your cell phone.
HELP WITH ETF'S ON AN 2009 ACCT.
Would like to know if anyone could help me get rid of my ETF's on an account I closed with Sprint in 8/2009. At the time Sprint was driving me nutts and I had to go!!!! Every singe month my bill was between $300-$400.00!! This went on for nearly 2 years, I only had 3 lines and did not go over my minutes and checked behind my kids on a weekly basis. But I know I owe a small balance which I can clear up. But I want to know how to get rid of the ETF's. I know the courts passed a law stating that cell phone companies could NOT continue to charge the ETF fees anymore but when mentioned to the Sprint, they claimed to either never heard of it or they had not adopted the new law yet. HELP!!!!
hey dude just change your
hey dude just change your home address to a address that they do not give you service thats the easier way to get out of a contract no question ask just make sure you change your address and call every 20 minutes to ask anything so they wont have your change of address in the system nomore so when you call back the next day or so they wont have proof that you changed your address they'll think that was you current address i hope this helps i helped me so i want to share with yall . good luck
Please Explain The Address Change In Detail
Can you please explain the call and change your address where there is no service and then call back every 20 minutes?? I had Sprint back in 2006 and I ended up out of work and my bill was starting to get more because I was not able to pay for the bill. I wanted to cancel the contract, and did not have the money needed to terminated early (obviously if I had no income to pay the bill). So I told them I was moving to Dominican Republic to be with my husband, they were willing to cancel with no problem as long as I can provide proof of a reservation of going to DR. Luckily, I had made my reservations (to visit my husband) prior to loosing my income; so I gave them my schedule for flight, just not the return one, and got out of it. Now, I just signed up again (don't know how cause I still owe them from other bill) got three lines with no deposit. Anyway, it is past my 30 days, and I am not happy with the reception, it SUCKS!!!! So I am trying to find out how to get out of it, can you tell me how this works, and explain it a bit more detailed?? Thank you :)

still going on?
Hey, am i still able to do this cancellation without etf? I need out of this damn contract, ppl call me and my phone never rings, sprint sucks all together. I need help. If i cannot do this trick, does anyone know of them planning on adding anymore fees so i can try?
THIS WORKS!!
I helped a customer sign up at&t after reading this artickle knowing there will be ETFs (total 5 of them)
they got a bill with 940.07 ETF, i called sprint spoke to a rep whom was really cooraptive and credited all $940.07
there's the condition though: as of jan 1, 2010 they have changed their fees, customer had till March 15, 2010 to port out the number/ reverse or cancel the contract with sprint. we ported the numbers out on March 14, 2010.
as soon as i mentioned the $.80 regulatory charge and $1.75 admin fee, the rep started paper work for the large amount of credit.
this really worked!!!! the bill went from $1388 to little bit over $400!!!
thanks UCAN.ORG!
Cancelled Sprint, NO ETF's!
I want to thank you all for this awesome thread. I still have a year and a half left in our contract. I called based on the regulatory fee change back in January. Talked to a rare, but very sweet CSR by the name of Richard that said yes, we can cancel our contract without penalty due to this change. He never mentioned I had 30 days, nor does it state this on the bill so we all still have time! He even sent an immediate confirmation email stating all ETFs would be waived! Thanks Sprint for 9 years of frustration, but its time for us to go!
Do you think its too late to
Do you think its too late to call Sprint now and tell them about the new fees and that I need to cancel the service? Any other way to Cancel with sprint? I have about 1.5 yrs left with Sprint.
So if I call today can I
So if I call today can I still get the ETF waived? I was never notified, and I don't see how they can legally hold me to a cut off date if I was never told to begin with.
sprint
I have been a Sprint/Nextel customer for over 6 years. I cancelled Sprint on Jan.23, 2010 because of poor service. I thought that I was past my 2 yr. plan but they informed me that because I changed plans in March of 2008 I was going to have to pay a $200.00 fee (mind you I changed to a more expensive plan, and I was only six weeks shy of the end of it). If I had joined Sprint after December of 2008 I would only have to pay a 50.00 fee. I think that making a customer pay more simply because they have been with a company longer is absurd. Since I cancelled in Janurary can I avoid the ETF based on them raising their fees Jan.1? And, if not, is there any way to make them allow me to opt out for the 50.00 fee they charge newer customers? I have went round and round with their very rude CSR's. Thank You
Nope Sorry
Changing your plan don't change your contract. You probably did an upgrade. Then changed the plan. The upgrade was the contract changer.
I canceled on Mar 3 and
I canceled on Mar 3 and called them today and they waived the $535 early termination fee. You have to have canceled by March 15, 2009, so if you have do this, call them and they will walk you thru the process and you will spend 30 minutes of your life that you will not get back, but that is worth the $535 back in my pocket.
help!
I have been with sprint for 7 months, and I am not very happy about it.
My bill has been really high lately. Can I still cancel it without the ETF, or
was it only till March 15????

IT WORKED!!!
These operators were very friendly and cooperative. I had no problem terminating the contract even though I had already moved to Verizon and thought I'd just have to pay the EFT. They credited it to me, so that I didn't even have to pay it!
Hello Droid:-)
canceled 3/11/2009. They
canceled 3/11/2009. They said you had until 3/15/2009. Took about 20-25 mins, be polite and professional.
IT WORKED
Hey guys I just did this and it worked with sprint on 03/08/10. Gave me no trouble and credit me back a portion of my bill. One thing sucked, the termination was effective immediately so I won't have a phone for a day or so.
BUT I WORKED MUAHH AHHAHHAHHA
HELLO DROID
Lol
I bet your droid sucks compared to the EVO now lmao. Your loss. 3g droid vs 4g droid fail.
You fail, the best Droid out
You fail, the best Droid out there comes to sprint in 2 weeks.
It Worked For Me!
I read this yesterday 3/17 and reviewed my last couple bills and discovered they had raised my regulation fee without notifying me! I did call and spoke to a Customer Service Rep who was not helpful. She just kept telling me I had to have called in before the 15th. I very nicely insisted how would I have known to call in if I wasn't notified! I then politely asked for a supervisor who was more than accomodating and took the cancellation fee out of my contract. If you do this as well do not cancel the Sprint Phone numbers if you want to go to another carrier and port your numbers! Thank you everyone for the info.
Hello Verizon Here I Come!
Today I won against ETF's
First I called and got shut down by a bossy sprint rep.
Then I chatted with an agent who acknowledged that I had until 3/15/10 to cancel without an ETF, something the other agent denied.
So I asked her to notate the account and I also asked her in writing if this meant that I could cancel my sprint account with no ETF and she said yes...so I also had it in writing.
Then I called back to account services got a very nice woman and she without much prodding also said I had until 3/15/10 to cancel and offered me a $10 credit a month for 2 years, a 10% discount for being a member of a credit union, and a discount for the company I work for.
Either way...even if you don't want to cancel you can certainly lower your bill. But I am pretty sure I'll be porting my number and getting iphones for my wife and myself
OMG I DID JUST WHAT ALL OF U TOLD ME AND IT WORKED!!!!
I can't beleive it I did everything all of u told me to do on this website and it totally worked. Just about 10 min ago I called and told them about the new charges on my account and I also was informed that I had until the 15th of this month to do so and the rep said "yes thats true u do have till the 15th". No EFT nothing I was in shock because I have made this attempt to cancel w/o the fees prior to tonight but I never mentioned the new charges they applied to the bills effective in Jan 2010. I just told them I did not like the fact that they applied the new 4.99 spending limit fee and the 0.40 cent fee and I wanted to cancel my contract w/o penalties. She then asked me if I was planning on porting my #'s and if so to do this by the 15th so I would not be charged for another billing cycle. This will work however take everyones advice and be polite and professional. Make sure all of u wanting out of sprint to make this attempt before the 15th of march no later or it will be too late. Dont forget to say that u were told by another u had until the 15th. Yippee I am sooooo glad I took this advice because if I hadnt I was going to have to pay to get out of sprint and now I dont have to thanks to all the advice I got from all of you so thanks everyone I just got rid of a huge headache!!!! Dont forget when u do this just go straight to the cancelation department u will get nowhere with customer solutions!!!
Is this really true I can get out of my contract w/o ETF
So all I have to do to get out of sprint in bring to their attention the new fees they added as of this year? So I really have until the 15th to do this? OMG if so that would be one of the best things to happen to me since I have been with sprint!!! So basically I just need to inform them of the 4.99 charge they added I cant remember but i thought there was another charge like .20 cents or something. Please if u have any other helpful suggestions I would appreciate knowing. thanks so much
Unable to Cancel Nextel Contract
Called Nextel. Explained that I wished to cancel my contract due to the recently added Regulatory & Admin. fees.
Rep. said no deal... You have 30 days to cancel. Time expired.
Escalated to Mgr. - Same response. I explained that the 30 day limit is not noted on any of my bills, she said "that's our policy".
Guess I'll have to ride this out until contract ends in Nov.2010
Then, we're done w/Nextel who's phone selection is very inferior to those of other carriers. They may have good pricing plans but they are WAY behind times when it comes to phone selection. As for Sprint- forget it! Great phones but HORRIBLE coverage.
Chalk another one up to big business. Pretty sneaky.
You still may be able to Cancel without ETF
Sprint must have told all of their lower level Reps to lie about the 30 day cancellation policy. Go and look at your bill from the previous bill Jan-Feb (2010) and see what you last billing date was.
Also look at that bill and see if you can see either an increase in the regulatory fee, which should show $0.40 and or Spending Limit Program Charge fee which is $4.99. If you see either of these charges on your Jan - Feb bill then you are probably too late.
This doesn't mean you can't still get out of your contract, it just means it may be a tougher process. Do you get a paper bill sent to your house or do you have your account setup to get a paper bill mailed to you each month? If so did you get a letter from Sprint giving you notice of these cost changes?
They were suppose to have been sent out to customers in Dec 09 thru Jan 10 If you did not get this notice then that may be your way to get out of your contract by saying you never got this notice in the mail.
I myself have my account setup for a paper bill sent to me and in the 4 months I have had Sprint service I only got a bill when I first started my account and never again, even after contacting Sprint twice and told them I was not getting my bills.
If you do not see these new fees until this last bill you got then you have 30 days from the billing date to cancel without the ETF So if your current billing date is on or before you called Sprint to cancel, then they have to cancel for you without ETF.
The bottom line if you have passed the 30 day limit it may not be too late because this 30 days that Sprint says you have to cancel is arbitrary because they have made a change to a contract you both have and you did not agree to this change and just because they say you have 30 days doesn't mean the law says you have 30 days!
Finally if you still can't get the Reps or Supervisors at Sprint to cancel your service without the ETF, then email Bob Johnson and be polite but firm in your letter when explaining your complaint and what you want him to do.

I thought I did everything
I thought I did everything right in cancelling the contract, yet there's a $200 ETF fee on my account.
Additionally, there are 3 surcharges listed on my most recent bill:
$7.32 for the Federal-Univ Serv Assess Non-Ld
$1.12 Virginia State-GRoss Receipts Surcharge
$.21 Virginia State-Special Revenue Surcharge
One or some of these surcharges are the basis for my right to cancel, correct? Does anyone know which surcharge in particular I should reference in my phone call to Sprint?
Any help is much appreciated. Sprint has been an awful company to work with for the last decade that we've been with them. I'm not surprised they're making leaving unpleasant as well.
sprint is the best love them

Much to my dismay, I canceled
Much to my dismay, I canceled my Sprint phone (to get an iphone) 2 days outside the allowable 30-day contract end date and got the ETF on my final bill. I called and sprint was so helpful: they gave me a full refund on the ETF even tho it was my fault and they told me how to lower my remaining phone bill and did not try to sell me anything. All took place immediately and I received an email confirming the changes 20 minutes later. I felt really good about the way they handled it.
I think they've killed the direct line
Quickly busy all day...scum...
Canceled Successfully but got my final bill WITH ETF's
I called in February and talked to the cancellation dept and was told that my contracts (4 lines) were marked as fulfilled do to this fee increase and I was free to port my #'s or cancel. So I did just that I ported my 4 numbers to a new carrier and all went very smoothly. I was worried that something would go wrong with the porting or something but no everything went with no hiccups. However I received my final bill from Sprint yesterday for over $1k one months service and 4 $200 ETF's. So I called Sprint today and let them know there must be some mistake the CSR I spoke to was very nice (rare for sprint CSR's.) She said this was an invalid charge and that she was submitting the dispute form and that I could expect it to be resolved sometime next week. Lets hope they for once keep their word and fix this!!!
Another post-cancellation mess (sorry this is long)...
I wonder if Sprint tries to sneak in charges for those of us who canceled, hoping we don't check our statements too carefully.... This is long but what happened to me after I successfully canceled my contracts (or I thought). When I called the first time, the rep was really nice and canceled my accounts. He told me our lines will remain open until the next billing cycle (Feb 11). And if I were to port out numbers, I need to call back within 30 days. After this phone call, my on line bill showed that my contract was fulfilled as of the day I called. I ported 2 numbers and called back Sprint and told them I am porting out 2 numbers but still canceling all 4 lines (i.e., 2 numbers ported and 2 numbers canceled). Well, I got my February bill and it looked like my 2 ported numbers were canceled but I still had 2 numbers with Sprint. I called them back and they told me that I ported out 2 numbers but kept 2 numbers, therefore I still have an active account. She told me the earliest I can cancel now is at the end of Feb billing cycle (March 11). She told me that the last note they have on me says I called to port out 2 numbers but nothing else. I told her that's not true and asked her to provide me with the script of my last phone call. She said they don't keep recordings of our calls and there is no way I can prove I am telling the truth. I asked her how I can be responsible for their reps not writing down what I asked them to write down and she did not have an answer other than repeating I am legally responsible for the charges. She told me we have been using the phone, quoting we last used it on the 25th (this phone call took place around the 20th) - she was looking at January activities. I asked for a supervisor and she repeated the same garbage, both women were very rude raising voices at me. I asked to speak to the supervisor's supervisor and she said that person is not available. I pushed and she said someone will call me but there is a 72 hour wait. I said fine. No phone call from them after about a week. I called back and this rep said she sees where the mistake was as the note for my first phone call does say I called to cancel 4 lines. So she said she is going to fix it, but I am skeptical.... I noticed the 3 reps who were nice to me asked to rate them as helpful if I receive a customer satisfaction survey. The 2 who were rude didn't even mention anything about the survey. Hmmmm....
Thanks to this blog I'm free and Clear!!!
I am so HAPPY I found this site. I've been wanting to switch to US Cell for a while now but last summer signed a 2 yr contract with sprint. (hate sprint by the way) I called sprint this morning and asked what it would cost to terminate early.....$10 for every month early which would have been $150. Came home, found this site, called sprint and less than 10 minutes later I'm out of my contract and heading to US Cellular. Lucky for me today was the last of my 30 days! Luck is on my side!!! Thanks and good luck to everyone else!
